Psychotherapy is a structured, systematic process of treating an individual with psychological, social and emotional disturbances through exploration, understanding, analysis, awareness and goal-setting. The process is guided by a theory that helps therapist in identifying the core problem areas and helping the client resolve them. The process of psychotherapy is different for various age groups and it is normally pursued in two formats- Individual and Group. The format generally depends upon the nature of the problem and the kind of therapy that is required to treat the same. For different ages, the process of therapy, duration of treatment and the application of therapy varies.

Psychotherapy includes psychometric assessment (if needed), case history, therapeutic process and follow up after the therapy is over.
